What Makes Fort Deposit so Special?
Fort Deposit is rich in history dating back to
1813 when General Claiborne, under orders from Andrew Jackson established
a supply fort here. From those days, to the days when cotton was king,
until today, people have found Fort Deposit to be an excellent place to
raise children, enjoy a fuller life and to eventually retire.
The town of Fort Deposit offers a perfect blend of southern beauty,
small town convenience and affordability and easy access to larger cities.
The local business community effectively meets the commercial needs of the
community. These businesses include banks, grocery stores, automobile
dealerships, hardware and building materials, dry cleaning, dry goods and
local utility offices. The town also offers a weekly newspaper, beauty and
barber shops, auto parts stores and numerous service stations. Health and
safety needs are met through the local clinic, ambulance service and fire
departments.
Fort Deposit's proximity to Montgomery, easy interstate access, it's
own airport, and open space make Fort Deposit the obvious choice for new
businesses and industry. Alabama is listed as one of the best places in
the country for new businesses.
Recreational opportunities also
abound. The woodlands, rolling hills, lakes and streams are conducive to
family outings. Thousands of acres are available for hunting, hiking and
picnicking. There are also softball and basketball leagues, community
activities and warm, friendly neighbors to welcome you home.
If low taxes, utility costs, overall cost of living, education, labor
and training are important to you, check out Fort Deposit and these links.

The nearby cities of Montgomery
and Greenville also provide additional shopping, recreational, and
cultural offerings. While situated in the heart of nature's beauty, Fort
Deposit is by no means secluded. By traveling Interstate 65, one reaches
Montgomery in less than thirty minutes and Greenville is approximately ten
minutes away. Many citizens commute daily and find their trip to be short
and without the congestion of city streets and bypasses.
But Fort Deposit is also made special by her people. As is evidenced in
her schools, churches and community programs, the people of Fort Deposit
are energetic and progressive while maintaining a spirit of hospitality,
generosity and friendship.
Fort Deposit boasts one of the largest
and most renowned arts and crafts fairs in the Southeast. Calico Fort Arts
and Crafts Fair is held each April. Everyone is welcome! Click on the
