Pastor Stanford receives WAKA
‘Giving Our Best’ award
Pastor Benny Stanford was recognized on television for his outstanding service to members of this congregation and the local community.
Pastor Stanford was presented WAKA-TV’s ‘Giving Our Best’ award for February 2007. Footage of the presentation and interview aired on CBS-8 Feb. 4, 2007 during the 10 p.m. news broadcast. The television crew presented the plaque Jan. 24.
“Words cannot express the heartfelt appreciation to my outstanding congregation for nominating me and my family for such an award,” Stanford said. “Since the Bethlehem Christian Church family is a team, I feel this award is not an individual award but one presented to the church as a family.”
In December 2005, Pastor Stanford received an award on behalf of the church from Gov. Bob Riley for the charitable work being done to help people in need. Stanford was one of only three faith-based organizations in the state to receive such an award. The Edgewood Tutorial Center and the Bethlehem food ministry are just two of the many services under Pastor Stanford’s leadership highlighted by the governor.
“To change our nation for a better tomorrow we must sculpt the minds and develop the character of the children in our community today,” Stanford said. “This is our vision and together all things are possible.”
Stanford’s outreach to his church family and local community recently expanded with a radio message now airing on Sundays at 7:55 a.m. on WKXN – 95.9 FM.
