As of Jan. 12, 2006, Fort Deposit received its own ambulance service. This long awaited service will be provided by Emergystat. They will be housed in the Fort Deposit Fire Station and provide 24-hour emergency and nonemergency service for the local area.

According to Dennis Poole, local Emergystat manager for Lowndes County, six EMTs have been hired to provide needed coverage.

“We look forward to being a part of the community and helping in any way we can,” Poole said. “It’s not fair for people to have to wait for emergency response and this will definitely decrease response time.

When an emergency arises, a person simply dials 911 who will then contact Emergystat. The same applies for non-emergencies. If someone is bed bound and needs to go to the doctor, Emergystat  will come to your home and get you there.

Further questions regarding care provided by Emergystat, insurance, or other, can be obtained by dialing 1-800-357-3887.

Emergystat Background Information

Emergystat is a community based ambulance service that believes in lending a helping hand to any patient in need whether in an urban or rural setting, just like the old fashioned caring of rural America. Emergystat is dedicated to ensuring the delivery of high quality care, promptly, at the lowest cost by:

· Exceeding our customers’ needs and expectations
· Promoting employee well-being
· Remaining community oriented
· Expanding services into new communities

Overview

Emergystat is one of the South’s leading providers of high-quality emergency, non-emergency, pre-hospital medical care, and inter-facility transportation.

Since its inception, Emergystat has grown to be one of the largest providers of pre-hospital care in Mississippi and Alabama. During 1997 and 1998 Emergystat successfully expanded it's services from rural areas into the urban markets of Mobile and Montgomery AL.

Emergystat currently has operations in seven states;  Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Lousiana, Kansas, Tennessee, and Virginia. Emergency response is the ultimate test of community trust. In this capacity, we typically respond to emergency calls with Advanced Life Support (ALS) units staffed by one or more highly skilled paramedics. We manage some of the high-performance 911 systems where we are required by contract to be on-scene in a specified time frame with full accountability. In providing 911 service, Emergystat operates either as the sole responder or as part of a coordinated response network with other local agencies such as fire departments.

Emergystat has worked closely with local and state EMS agencies/organizations for many years. Our understanding of the various demands placed upon a well-defined EMS system is exceptional. It is to this end that we place a great deal of emphasis on taking care of customer needs. Whether a request for service is an emergency or a non-emergency transfer, Emergystat is committed to providing:

* Prompt accessibility for ambulance service
* Nationally registered EMTs and paramedics
* Prompt response times
* State-of-the-art equipment
* Safe transportation
* Customer service in billing and collection procedures
* Courteous and professional personnel
* Emergency Medical Dispatch trained system status controllers

Emergystat’s basic premise for providing high quality patient care and customer satisfaction is what has established us as a regional leader in pre-hospital EMS.

Computer-Aided Dispatch Adds Efficiency

We use a sophisticated computer-aided dispatch system to achieve high levels of operational performance. This hardware and software facilitates effective utilization of resources and real time reports that allow operations staff to adjust the system for optimal performance. Available reports include responses by service area, type of call, time of day, and specific response times. We currently use a satellite based radio system, high band radio systems with repeaters, network frame relay system tying both phone and radio systems together and 800 MHz trunking systems to remain in constant communication with our ambulances. All of our ambulances also carry cellular phones for additional back up capability.

Emergystat communications personnel play a key role in delivering superior care. Each has successfully completed emergency medical dispatch training and has received nationally recognized EMS Dispatch certification
